Mr. Michael Spearing attended The University of Alabama from 1974-1978 and The University of Alabama's Law School from 1978-1981. He graduated from the law school Order of the Coif and a Hugo Black Scholar, which are both academic recognitions in 1981. He was in private practice for 7 years in Huntsville and joined the University of Alabama in Huntsville Office of Counsel in 1988. For over 15 years in that position, his responsibilities focused on government contract and compliance issues and technology transfer. Michael was also on the faculty at UAH as an Assistant Professor of Business Legal Studies and taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate level on various legal topics, including administrative law, employment law, and electronic commerce law. Mr. Spearing frequently guest lectured on patent law in other classes at UAH. He has presented seminars on patent and copyright issues and other topics to faculty and managerial level staff. Michael Spearing came to UA in January of 2004 and continue to focus on technology transfer and other research related matters.
